Roycroft Campus Tours

The Roycroft Campus offers a variety of tours rich with facts and stories about the past, present and future of this authentic Arts and Crafts community. Our regularly scheduled docent tours of the Campus are available June through October every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Reservations are highly recommended. Roycroft Campus Basic Tour
Admission: $15
Student and Military rate (with proper I.D.) $10                                     Available: Wednesday at 12:30 and 2:30, Saturday 10:30, 12:30 and 2:30, and Sunday at 12:30 and 2:30.

The Roycroft Basic Tour will give an introduction to the Arts & Crafts Movement, Elbert Hubbard, and the Roycroft Campus. This 1 hour tour, led by a trained docent, will lead guests through the Campus grounds examining the exterior of the Power House, the first Print Shop and the Roycroft Inn, the Chapel, the Second Print Shop, and the Furniture Shop. Your tour will conclude at the Roycroft Copper Shop and Gallery, where you can view exceptional works of art by current Roycroft Renaissance artisans.

This tour is 1-hour and handicapped accessible. Most of the tour is outside and there is considerable walking, but there are some places to sit throughout the tour.

Reservations are strongly recommended due to the limited space on each guided tour.

Roycroft Campus In-Depth Tour
Admission: $30
Student and Military rate (with proper I.D.) $25                                    Available: Wednesday at 12:00, Saturday 12:00, and Sunday at 12:00.

The Roycroft In-Depth Tour will take you to all the spaces included on the Basic tour, plus additional interior areas including the First Print Shop, the Chapel and the Salon of the Roycroft Inn. This 2 hour tour, led by a master docent, will have visitors examining original Roycroft furniture, stained glass, metalwork and the murals of Alexis Fournier. The interior of the Chapel will include the meeting hall and the temporary working print shop. Your docent will also expand on the Hubbard story providing more information on the men and women who help make the Campus a striving artisan community.

This tour is 2-hours and has limited handicapped accessibility. Certain floors of the Chapel are only accessible by stairs. Part of the tour is outside and there is considerable walking, but there are some places to sit throughout the tour. From time to a time specific tour space on the Roycroft Campus may be unavailable due to other events or ongoing restoration.

Roycroft Campus Audio Tour
Admission: $6
This tour may be taken at any day or time the Campus Grounds are open, between 10am and 5pm throughout the year. (coming April 2014)

The Roycroft Audio Tour will give an introduction to the Arts & Crafts Movement, Elbert Hubbard, and the Roycroft Campus. This tour can be done at your own pace but usually takes between 45 minute and 1 hour. The tour will lead guests through the Campus grounds examining the exterior of the Power House, the first Print Shop, the Roycroft Inn, the Chapel, the Second Print Shop, and the Furniture Shop. Your tour will conclude at the Roycroft Copper Shop and Gallery, where you can view exceptional works of art by current Roycroft Renaissance artisans.

This tour is handicapped accessible. Most of the tour is outside and there is considerable walking. To take the audio tour, individuals will need to have a working cell phone. To access the audio files and digital images you will need a web enabled device. The web tour is formatted to work on smartphones, tablets and computers with a WiFi, 3G or 4G mobile data connection. Regular usage charges may apply according to the user's cell phone or data plan.

Combination Tour Ticket: The Roycroft Campus & The Elbert Hubbard Roycroft Museum
Admission: $20 (value $25)
Basic 1-hour tour of The Roycroft Campus and a 1-hour tour of The Elbert Hubbard Roycroft Museum. Must be taken during each sites normally scheduled tours.

Combination Tour Tickets must be purchased on the Roycroft Campus. Both tours do not need to be taken on the same day, but the tickets will expire at the end of the current tour season.

The Elbert Hubbard Roycroft Museum is housed in a craftsman bungalow originally built by Roycrofters. In 1985, Gladys ScheideMantel donated her house to the Aurora Historical Society who now curates the museum. It contains beautifully bound and illuminated books, furniture, copper work, and other Roycroft memorabilia on permanent display as well as oil paintings by Alex Fournier and leather work by George ScheideMantel. The Elbert Hubbard Roycroft Museum is located at 363 Oakwood Ave, East Aurora, New York, about a half mile from the Roycroft Campus.

Roycroft Campus Behind the Scenes Tour
Admission: $50
This is a Specialty Tour and is only offered on specific dates. Please check the website or call the Copper Shop (716)655-0261 for upcoming dates.

The Roycroft Behind the Scenes Tour will take you to areas not shown on our Campus Tours including some rarely opened to the public. Starting in the Power House Loft, walk across the catwalk, examine the interior of the Furniture Shop, and get a glimpse of the Guest House and a room at the Inn. See the Morris Room and journey to the top of the Inn’s tower to view the rarely seen Ruskin Room. The tour will include an in-depth look at the interior of the Chapel as well as discussing elements of the Campus that are no longer here, such as the well, greenhouse and blacksmith shop.

This tour is 2-hours and is not wheelchair accessible: there is considerable walking, standing and stair-climbing including some very narrow and steep stairs. Part of the tour is outside.

Roycroft Campus V.I.P. Tour
Admission: $400
This is a Specialty Tour - please call to make arrangements

You and your guests (up to 6 people total) will experience Hubbard’s Roycroft Campus in an intimate and leisurely tour led by a master docent or member of our senior staff. Tour all of the main buildings and the Campus grounds of this National Historic landmark in a small group that will allow ample time for a personalized, one-of-a-kind experience. Relive Roycroft history by taking part in a hands-on book binding activity, and enjoy lunch at the Roycroft Inn. This is the perfect gift for the Arts & Crafts aficionado who has everything, for that once-in-a-lifetime visit, or to thank someone with a special gift. Off-Schedule or Off-season Tours

If you are unable to make it to the Campus during our regularly scheduled tours or off-season but would still like to see the Campus you can try and arrange a tour. Please understand that the majority of the Campus tour is outside, so the weather is a major factor, especially during the winter months. The cost is $25 per person. These tours must be made at least two weeks in advance to secure a docent, and will depend on availablity.
