The Roycroft Campus offers a variety of tours rich with facts and stories about the past, present and future of this authentic Arts and Crafts community. Our regularly scheduled docent tours of the Campus are available May through October every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. We also offer Specialty Tours which are only offered on specific dates and give you a one of a kind experience of the Campus. Reservations are highly recommended. Roycroft Campus Basic Tour

Admission: $15
Student and Military rate (with proper I.D.) $10

The Roycroft Basic Tour will give an introduction to the Arts & Crafts Movement, Elbert Hubbard, and the Roycroft Campus. This 1 hour tour, led by a trained docent, will lead guests through the Campus grounds examining the exterior of the Power House, the first Print Shop and the Roycroft Inn, the Chapel, the Second Print Shop, and the Furniture Shop. Your tour will conclude at the Roycroft Copper Shop and Gallery, where you can view exceptional works of art by current Roycroft Renaissance artisans.

This tour is 1-hour and handicapped accessible. Most of the tour is outside and there is considerable walking, but there are some places to sit throughout the tour.

Reservations are strongly recommended due to the limited space on each guided tour.

Roycroft Campus In Depth Tour

Admission: $30
Student and Military rate (with proper I.D.) $25
Available: May - October on Wednesdays at 1:00, Saturdays 1:00, and Sundays at 1:00.

The Roycroft In-Depth Tour will take you to all the spaces included on the Basic tour, plus additional interior areas including the First Print Shop, the Chapel and the Salon of the Roycroft Inn. This 2 hour tour, led by a master docent, will have visitors examining original Roycroft furniture, stained glass, metalwork and the murals of Alexis Fournier. The interior of the Chapel will include the meeting hall and the temporary working print shop. Your docent will also expand on the Hubbard story providing more information on the men and women who help make the Campus a thriving artisan community.

This tour is 2-hours and has limited handicapped accessibility. Certain floors of the Chapel are only accessible by stairs. Part of the tour is outside and there is considerable walking, but there are some places to sit throughout the tour. From time to a time specific tour space on the Roycroft Campus may be unavailable due to other events or ongoing restoration.

Reservations are strongly recommended due to the limited space on each guided tour.

Roycroft Campus Tablet Tour

Admission: $10 per person
This tour may be taken at any day or time the Campus Grounds are open, between 10am and 4pm throughout the year.

The Roycroft Tablet Tour will give an introduction to the Arts & Crafts Movement, Elbert Hubbard, and the Roycroft Campus. This tour can be done at your own pace but usually takes between 45 minutes and 1 hour. The tour will lead guests through the Campus grounds examining the exterior of the Power House, the first Print Shop, the Roycroft Inn, the Chapel, the Second Print Shop, and the Furniture Shop. Your tour will conclude at the Roycroft Copper Shop Gallery, where you can view exceptional works of art by contemporary artists.

This tour is handicapped accessible. Most of the tour is outside and there is considerable walking. To take the tablet tour, individuals will go to the Roycroft Power House. A drivers license and credit card are needed to reserve the Roycroft tablet. Guest might also like to bring their own headphones or earbuds to hear the audio track without distraction.

Reservations are not needed, but tablets are first come, first serve.

Roycroft Campus Off-Schedule Tours

Off-Schedule or Off-Season Tours

If you are unable to make it to the Campus during our regularly scheduled tours or during the off-season but would still like to see the Campus you can try and arrange a tour. Please understand that the majority of the Campus tour is outside, so the weather is a major factor, especially during the winter months. The cost is $30 per person for a 1-hour private tour. These tours must be made at least two weeks in advance to secure a docent, and will depend on availability. Combination Tour: The Roycroft Campus & The Elbert Hubbard Roycroft Museum

Combination Tour Ticket: The Roycroft Campus & The Elbert Hubbard Roycroft Museum
Admission: $20 (value $25)

Basic 1-hour tour of The Roycroft Campus and a 1-hour tour of The Elbert Hubbard Roycroft Museum. Must be taken during each sites normally scheduled tours.

Combination Tour Tickets must be purchased on the Roycroft Campus at the Power House. Both tours do not need to be taken on the same day, but the tickets will expire at the end of the current tour season.

The Elbert Hubbard Roycroft Museum is housed in a craftsman bungalow originally built by Roycrofters. In 1985, Gladys ScheideMantel donated her house to the Aurora Historical Society who now curates the museum. It contains beautifully bound and illuminated books, furniture, copper work, and other Roycroft memorabilia on permanent display as well as oil paintings by Alex Fournier and leather work by George ScheideMantel. The Elbert Hubbard Roycroft Museum is located at 363 Oakwood Ave, East Aurora, New York, about a half mile from the Roycroft Campus.

Specialty Tour - Roycroft Campus Behind the Scenes Tour

Specialty Tour - Behind the Scenes Tour

Next scheduled Behind the Scene Tour - July 23rd: 4pm - 6pm

The Roycroft Behind the Scenes Tour will take you to areas not shown on our Campus Tours including some rarely opened to the public. Starting in the Power House Loft, walk across the catwalk, examine the interior of the Furniture Shop, and get a glimpse of the Guest House and a room at the Inn. See the Morris Room and journey to the top of the Inn’s tower to view the rarely seen Ruskin Room. The tour will include an in-depth look at the interior of the Chapel as well as discussing elements of the Campus that are no longer here, such as the well, greenhouse and blacksmith shop.

This tour is 2-hours and is not wheelchair accessible: there is considerable walking, standing and stair-climbing including some very narrow and steep stairs. Part of the tour is outside.

The Roycroft Book Arts Tour is a specialty tour highlighting the origins of the Campus, specifically the making of handmade books. Guests will be lead by a docent on a basic 1-hour tour around the Campus for an overview of the history of Elbert Hubbard and the buildings. They will then take part in an interactive hands-on workshop where individuals will learn the basics of book arts and bind your own book, just like the Roycrofters use to do. The tour portion of this event is 1-hour in length. Most of the tour is outside and there is considerable walking, but there are some places to sit throughout the tour. The workshop portion is indoors. The entire area is handicapped accessible. Reservations are needed for this specialty tour.

Specialty Tour - Twilight Tower Tour

This first of its kind event will lead participants up into the top floor of the three towers on the Campus; the triangular Ruskin Room of the Inn, the round tower of the Chapel, and the square turret of the Print Shop. Don't miss this one of a kind opportunity.
