Crafting a Cross

"Crafting a Cross" - The VINES wrapped around the BRANCHES and the LEAVES growing from the vines are symbolic of Jesus being the true vine and his people the branches John 15:1,5.
Create a one of a kind cross and have a meaningful piece of artwork to give or keep for yourself. Students will work with fine silver clay to create the cross, containing vines, leaves and a heart. The class will add a bail then dry, torch fire, and polish your custom made creation. Students will gain knowledge of some of the basics skills of this media including roll, texture, shape, dry, fire, and finish to create a one of a kind jewelry piece. No prior experience necessary.
The material fee is not included in the cost of the tuition. This fee is due to the instructor on the day of the class and will include the Art Clay Silver, Silver Syringe Clay, CZ’s, prong setting, handouts, firing cost, misc. consumables, and all necessary materials to complete the project. The tools provided during the class project will remain the property of the instructor. Students are highly recommended to bring magnification (reading) glasses if needed. Lunch is not supplied so please feel free to bring a bagged lunch, or something to snack on.
A North Tonawanda native, Marie Gniazdowski started creating and selling art work before she even began grade school. She felt inspired by her father who was a welder, and chose to direct her artistic energies into metal working and jewelry design. After obtaining her Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees in design, she began exhibiting and selling her work at nationally known craft shows. From there, she earned her Masters Degree in fine art from Rochester Institute of Technology’s School for American Craftsmen. Soon after, Marie began designing and creating models of jewelry and accessories. Now a Juried Artist from the Arts and Craftsman Guild and Art Clay Silver-Senior Instructor for the Aida Company, Marie designs and instructs others on how to create beautiful pieces with fine silver clay.

7 grams of silver clay will make a small cross. Quantities are availble at a small fee to make a medium or large cross.
Registration is required and seating is limited (Max. of 5 students).
