Spring Glass Pendant
(with Artist, Vicki Schneider)
Thursday, April 19th from 6:00pm - 8:30pm
Make several glass pendants with beautiful floral designs that you will be proud to wear or give as gifts. You will be amazed and mesmerized as you learn to melt and manipulate glass at a stationary torch under close supervision. No experience is necessary - only a willingness to try. Each pendant will be placed on an adjustable cord or, if you prefer, it can be placed on a sterling silver chain for an additional fee.
Pick up your project(s) after they have been annealed (cooled gradually to remove thermal stress) or they can be mailed to you for $6 payable to the instructor.
This workshop does not take place on the Roycroft Campus, but at the instructor’s studio Expressive Glass (3333 Lake Shore Rd, Hamburg, NY 14219), near the Woodlawn Beach between the Ford and steel plants on Route 5. Students should wear clothes that are at least 80% natural fibers (not rayon or polyester), tie back long hair, wear closed shoes/sneakers, and do not wear loose necklaces or bracelets. All materials and supplies will be provided for the class. NOTE: Your work will not be available for pick up until 1-3 days after the class. If you prefer, your icicles can be shipped to you for an additional $6.
Vicki Schneider’s fascination with glass dates back to a field trip she took as a young child to the Corning Museum of Glass. In 2006 she melted her first rod of glass and her love affair with flameworking began. Vicki has studied with some of the world’s most highly respected glass artists, including world-renown Venetian sculptors Emilio Santini and Lucio Bubacco. She opened Expressive Glass in 2009 to share her passion and introduce others to the magic of flameworking. Ms. Schneider is a NYS certified teacher and international speaker, and her work is sold at prestigious venues, including the GlassMarket at the Corning Museum of Glass, WheatonArts The Gallery of Fine Craft (Milville, NJ), and The Melting Point (Sedona, AZ.) In 2015, she was selected by Glassation.com as one of “18 Game-Changing Female Glass Artists.” She is a member of the recently formed Arts and Craftsmen Guild.
