What:	Make a Lap Dulcimer & Learn to Play It ~ Dick Gilman

	Where:	The Copper Shop Gallery - Located on the national historic landmark Roycroft             Campus at 31 South Grove Street in East Aurora, NY  14052
	About:	Artist, Musician and Craftsman Dick Gilman will instruct students in making a sturdy cardboard lap dulcimer perfect for beginners. This hands-on workshop allows experiment with minimal investment. Students will each be provided all the materials needed to complete their own instrument. Once finished, Dick will teach how to tune it and how to play some simple songs. Each participant will have the option of performing in the “concert” (for students only) at the conclusion of class on Sunday afternoon! Dick will talk about the history of the dulcimer and its evolution in the Appalachian Mountains as well as about his own experiences making and playing dulcimers and banjos over the past many years. A few of his hand carved cherry, curly maple and walnut dulcimers and fretless banjos are on display and for sale at the Copper Shop. We encourage students to visit the Copper Shop and view a sample of the dulcimer that they will be making.
	Informal Concert!!	Students are also invited to the Saturday, September 27th musical performance starring Dick Gilman and his wife Carmen! RSVP to join us at the Roycroft Chapel at 7:00pm for this informal concert!
