Two-day hands-on workshop in metalsmithing.  Each participant will complete 2 projects; one in copper and one in silver.  The silver item which will be a wearable piece of art.

This class made sterling silver wire jewelry. Students learned the process of wire wrapping which can be used to wrap stones, beads, marbles, etc. The sea glass selection provided for this class was hand picked from the wild beaches of Puerto Rico

Three hour Class with artist Lin Nowicki. This class covered the basics of choosing, preparing, priming, painting, detailing and finishing two projects.

SCREEN PRINTING

Learn this simple method of creating a stencil on a screen. Students will print their image onto 8½” x 11” paper to create an edition of 10 prints.

HAND ILLUMINATION

The decoration of a manuscript or book with a painted design in color and gold inks or paints and various artistic font types. Try your hand on a quill and a printing press to create your own hand illuminations! Each student will go home with some creative designs and one matted masterpiece!

One-day workshop the focus of this workshop is to create beautiful patterns and textures on silk. Students will be encouraged to expand their design and color mixing skills throughout the workshop. Knot by Knot rug repair REPAIRING ORIENTAL RUGS

Instruction given on basic steps in cleaning and caring for a rug. Knots will be removed to expose a fringe and then a twist line is inserted and secured with a basic sewing stitch. Students will also learn to do a basic wrap technique to finish the side edge. The sample piece may be taken home to finish and used as a small mat or mini rug.

Wilder Block printing BLOCKPRINTING 2 Day class

Project - note cards in two colors by carving, inking and printing a separate linoleum block for each color. A few choices of designs will be provided, or use their own designs. Each student will go home with some printed cards and a kit for doing more printmaking at home.

Gillman dulcimer DULCIMER CONSTRUCTION and PLAY

Artist, Musician and Craftsman Dick Gilman will instruct students in making a sturdy cardboard lap dulcimer perfect for beginners. This hands-on workshop allows experiment with minimal investment. Students will each be provided all the materials

Corey finished beads BEADING

Students use Czech beads, crystals, seed and spacers. Students will design and make a bracelet with variety of these fabulous beads! Students make a heart smart “reminder” pin with flat backed Swarovski crystals and a positive reaffirming word bead. Students will begin to practice bead embroidery on this pin.

Over the past 30 years I have studied with a number of nationally known calligraphers through conferences and workshops and continue to be fascinated with the wide range of possibilities this art form offers. The marks that the huan hand can make have the power to convey so much!In February 2006 I received designation as a Roycroft artisan in the area of Text Arts.
