SURI ALPACAS VISIT THE CAMPUS
Humming noises, not commonly heard on the Roycroft Campus varied in pitch and volume during the afternoon hours on Sunday June 22, 2008. Visiting Campus that day were four Suri Alpacas, brought to us by their owner and groundskeeper Mary Hubbard. Roycroft Campus Corporation in collaboration with Knox State Park Farm had the perfect weather for the “wooly” focused day. Visitors to the Copper Shop were able to learn about these beautiful soft long-haired four legged animal, the Suri Alpaca.
A special thanks to Judith Bunn for organizing several spinners to join us for the afternoon. Knox State Farm Program Director Maureen Curry and Textile Artisan Jaclyn Hoover were also on hand to demonstrate some wool felting and other artisan handcrafted items.
Unique gift items made from the Suri Alpaca wool are available at the Copper Shop Gallery, located at 31 South Grove Street in East Aurora. Open daily from 10:00am -5:00pm.
